H-1B 60-day grace period

When your grace period ends, from your last day of work and your I-94. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Your dates

Your last paid day, which may be later than your last day in the office.

From your most recent I-94 record. The grace period can't go past it.

Enter your last day of employment.

How long is the H-1B grace period?

Up to 60 days after your employment ends, or until your I-94 expires if that is sooner. It is available once per authorized validity period.

What can I do during the 60 days?

Find a new employer to file an H-1B petition for you (you can usually start work once it is filed), change to another status, or leave the US. Our guide, changing jobs on H-1B, explains how a transfer works.

Which date is my “last day”?

Your last day of employment, which can be later than your last day in the office if you are paid through a notice period. If you're unsure, ask your employer's HR or an immigration attorney before relying on a date.
